Ways to Find Support

You Are Not Alone

Grief is a journey, and no one should walk it without support. The Catholic Church offers comfort, prayer, and community for those who mourn.

Parish Bereavement Ministries

Many parishes offer grief support groups and pastoral counseling. Contact your parish office to learn what’s available.

Prayer resources

The Church’s tradition offers specific prayers for the dead, including the Rosary for the Deceased and the Office for the Dead.

Ongoing remembrance

All Souls’ Day (November 2) and parish memorial Masses offer opportunities to continue praying for and remembering loved ones.

A Word of Comfort

Catholic cemeteries in the Diocese of Springfield exist to serve not only the Church but also the greater community and all of society by making religious statements about the individual person, humankind, life, death, and life after death. Those who minister in Catholic cemeteries will extend their efforts to all baptized members of the Catholic tradition.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Grief is not a sign of weak faith — it is love that has nowhere left to go. The Church walks with you in that grief, trusting always in the certain hope of the resurrection.
