Established around 1871 and rooted in the history of Saint Michael Cathedral, Saint Michael Cemetery is one of the largest and most historic Catholic cemeteries in Western Massachusetts. Spanning 123 developed acres between State Street and Wilbraham Road, the cemetery is home to more than 68,000 burials. Burial options include flush memorial and upright monument lots, as well as the Saint Michael the Archangel Mausoleum — a beloved alternative to in-ground burial offering approximately 1,500 crypts. Saint Michael Cemetery continues to serve the Catholic families of Springfield and the surrounding region with dignity and care.
